  How to test the load-bearing capacity of wooden pallets?

  The load-bearing standard of wooden pallets is called load in technical terms. The load of the wooden pallet is not an accurate data, but multiple data or intervals. Moreover, the load-bearing capacity of wooden pallets is affected by different factors, and its load-bearing capacity is different, depending on the specific situation. Therefore, there is currently no specific load-bearing standard for wooden pallets in the industry.

  First of all, the environment of the wooden pallet is different, and its load-bearing capacity will inevitably be affected. When the wooden pallet is placed horizontally on a hard surface and the goods are evenly spread on the wooden pallet, the maximum weight that the wooden pallet can bear is referred to as the static load; and when the goods are evenly placed on the pallet, the pallet can be in a moving state. The maximum weight we can bear is referred to as the dynamic load; there is also a situation where the goods are evenly placed on wooden pallets, and the wooden pallets can bear the maximum weight when the wooden pallets are overhead on beam shelves or other similar shelves. We call this the maximum weight It is the load on the shelf. When storing wooden pallets, the load on the shelves is particularly important.

How to test the load-bearing capacity of wooden pallets

  In addition to the environment, the load capacity of wooden pallets has a lot to do with the way the goods are placed on the pallets. The reduction of the load-bearing area will directly reduce the load of the pallet, not the original load. For example, the European standard wooden pallet is designed according to the following goods stacking or the forklift used: 1000kg, ordinary goods placed on the pallet irregularly; 1500kg, goods placed on the entire pallet evenly and regularly; 2000kg, compact, Goods placed regularly on the entire pallet; when the pallet is placed on a flat, rigid horizontal surface, and the goods are evenly placed on the entire pallet surface, multiple load pallets are stacked on top of each other, and the bottom pallet must be able to withstand additional Maximum load of 4000kg (6000kg in total).

  So, how can we determine the load-bearing capacity of a wooden pallet? There are two test standards for determining the load-bearing capacity of the pallet: one is the bending strength test, and the other is the compressive strength test.

  For specific test methods, you can refer to the following steps:

  1. In the form of simply supported beams, place the flat tray on the lower bolster, align the inner side of the tray stringer with the two inner sides of the lower bolster, and the distance between the two inner sides of the lower bolster is the supporting distance. The lower corbel for support is a rectangular empty box formed by butt welding of two No. 10 channel steels, and its length should be slightly longer than the length of the pallet.

  2. Two bolsters (upper bolsters) for loading are placed on the pallet where the center line of the pallet panel is one-quarter of the supporting distance on both sides. The two upper bolsters used for loading are made of seamless steel pipes with an outer diameter of 76mm and a wall thickness of 6mm, and their length should be slightly longer than the length of the pallet.

  3. The pallet bending strength test can be carried out with a compression tester of 3-5 tons. Other measuring instruments include a dial indicator, a moisture content measuring instrument, a steel tape measure, and a plumb weight. During the test, the pallet is placed on the compression testing machine and a concentrated load is applied to the upper bolster through the pressure plate at a loading speed of 10kg/s. When the load reaches 1.5 times the load of the wooden pallet, the deflection of the middle of the lower pallet is measured.
